Deborah (Debbie) Thompson, born in Madison, Wisconsin, began playing cello in the 5th grade in Terre Haute, Indiana. While in high school, she toured five countries in Europe with the American Youth Symphony and Chorus. She earned her Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and a Masters of Education degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Debbie is currently the music teacher and choir director at Clay City Elementary School, as well as the bell choir director at Centenary United Methodist Church.

Musical pit orchestras in which Debbie performed include: "The Sound of Music", "Carousel", "Camelot", "Li'l Abner", "Brigadoon", "Cinderella", "The Wiz", "Oklahoma", and "The Mikado". While at the University of Southern Mississippi, she enjoyed playing many great works of music, including Beethoven's Ninth Symphony and Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Ballet.

Debbie performed in the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Orchestra while attending college, during which time she was also the Cellist for the Ouabache String Quartet. She is currently the principal cellist for the Terre Haute Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra.
